We stumbled across this graphic with stats on piracy and estimations on revenue lost to file sharing and bootlegging on BackgroundCheck.org’s blog. Not exactly sure how it fits into their world view, but the information is relevant to us folks making and listening to music. This infographic also looks at the implications of movie piracy and software piracy, in addition to music piracy – and it also has some info on public perception on the practice.

We can’t be sure why they chose a cassette image as the media of choice on the infographic –don ‘t you think an 8-track would have made a cool skull? If you’re intrigued by the continuing discussion about copyright infringement and an open internet, here’s some more food for thought.
