How do I contact Mr. Chiccarelli? I want to record with the best! When I was in art school at UCLA, I remember going to an art party and guess who the band was? "The Mothers of Invention". When me and Gordon Alexander opened for "Blood Sweat and Tears" at the Troubador in LA in 1967, between sets I was sitting in the audience in the balcony watching Randy Brecker blow a great trumpet solo and there was this guy next to me yelling at him to really play his ax. I was worried that this drunk guy would fall off that balcony and break his neck before security came up and rescued the drunkard. It was Jim Morrison.

I made a CD of original music in November, 2009 playing harmonica, guitar, piano, and singing. I bought 100 CDs from Discmakers and have only 2 left. What do I have to do to make the best CD I can make with one of the best engineers in the business?

Very good. I like the idea of being "well-rounded", experience all culture - not only music - as a way to stay inspired and keep things fresh.

If you've never checked out the Steve Wynn album "Dazzling Display" you are in for a treat. I have always loved Joe's production on this; there's quite a range of song styles on this record and Joe captures the right sonic sweep for each one. Very satisfying album.

@ Rose Gunter:
Hey, you dropped these names over there; I thought you might want 'em back...LOL

I loved this article; it's definitely becoming more and more important to leave some of the "rough parts" of songs in there, as opposed to polishing everything.

I have been producing for about 10 years no. I am a professional singer, and acting coach, and now a studio producer. On my myspace I have put in a few songs I have produced, enjoy if ya like, and any comments I would love...there is so much to say but I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful comments regarding producing, especially the one "what day is it"...weather it is producing a hit or just a local talent I feel it is all the same. I have worked with some wonderful musicians that I hve hired to work on some of the records I have produced, Llike, Dave Valentine, Joel Rosenblatt(former drummer for Spya Gyro)..and some others...I have been so blessed to take the seat of a producer, and I am still doing lots of gigs, at 60 yrs of age, I am sooo proud of my age, and of course I look forty...lol..anyhoo I hope I get a response from ya, so much to share, not to many Woman Producing, we have a special touch...thanks for your words....Rose Gunter

Great article. I liked it better the first time when I read it in the May 2008 issue of Performing Songwriter. Has Joe Chiccarelli stayed static for the last 20 months, that this same excerpted interview still applies with no added insight?
